Gen3 Marketing are introducing controls on our data and how it is used on employee owned devices. This article will help you register your device so you can access company data on your iOS/iPadOS device.
Requirements
- An iPhone or iPad that supports iOS/iPadOS 16 or greater. (Please note, this requirement will be updated to iOS/iPadOS 17 in October 2024.)
Instructions
Open the Settings app on your device, then go to General > VPN & Device Management.
Tap Sign In to Work or School Account...
Type in your Gen3 email address and tap Continue, you will then be asked to enter your email account password. Type in your password and tap Sign in.
Once you have successfully signed in, you will then be asked to sign in to your iCloud for Work account. This will use the same credentials you used previously, so to continue, tap the Sign In to iCloud button.
Next, tap the Continue button on the next screen where you will be redirected to the Gen3 Marketing email sign in screen.
Type in the password for your account and tap Sign In.
Next, tap Yes to stay signed in to this account.
Next you will be shown the following screen which shows you details of what Gen3 Marketing can do on your device. If you are happy to continue after reading the information on the screen, tap the Allow Remote Management button.
Next, you will be asked to input your iPhone or iPad passcode.
After you have typed in your passcode, your device will be configured.
Once your device has been successfully configured. You will arrive at the following screen. There are a few more steps which are required, so go back to your home screen.
After a short amount of time, you will receive a pop up asking you to install Microsoft Edge and the Microsoft Outlook apps. These apps are required to access emails and links in any emails as they enable us to protect our data in a way which the native iOS or iPadOS apps do not.
After tapping Install and once the Outlook app installs, find Outlook on your device and tap the app to open it.
Once the app opens, tap the Add Account button. If you have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your phone then your Gen3 Marketing account may be found automatically. If this is the case, tap the Add Account button which appears under the discovered account.
After you select Add Account, you will be redirected to the Authenticator app to automatically sign you in to Outlook. Tap the Open Authenticator button.
Next you will see a screen asking you to Set up your device to get access. Tap the Continue button.
Your device will then carry out the initials checks required to grant access. This may take longer than the minute specified on the screen.
After the initial checks have been carried out, you may be asked to enter your password again. Type in your password if required and then tap Sign in.
After tapping Sign in, you may see the Checking your device screen again. Once this has completed successfully, you may see a Checking app status screen momentarily and then see a pop-up telling you that you need to restart the app.
Tap OK on the pop up then find and open the Outlook app to continue. After you have opened the app, you will see the below pop-up. Tap OK.
You will then be asked to set a 4 digit PIN.
Enter the 4 digit PIN you would like to use and confirm it to ensure you have typed in the correct PIN. After this, Outlook will be successfully set up and you will see your email inbox.
